Why I love South-Africa

As you know I have had some problems with my passport and that I’ve been waiting for it for 5 months. That’s right I said 5 …

So 1 month ago I emailed them and got this reply

Passport not arrived yet. Notification will be posted to
you when passport has been received.

Nice email hey .. no where is you passport ... or we are sorry ... or Kind regards Sipo Mklenowhere or nothing.

So I waited patiently for a month but no notification. So today I emailed them again. To my surprise I got an email back on the same day saying

Please, be informed your passport has been issued and it was sent to our office on June 14, 06. Due to a recent computer glitch we have, we cannot be able to confirm that we have received it. As soon as our computers are working we will confirm its presence in the office and then ask you to come and collect. If you will be sending someone, please, give that person a written authorization to that effect.

SA High Commission

So basically they have had my passport since f***ing (Jammer dat ek so floek dad) June and because their computer is not working they haven’t been able to find my passport for almost 2 months and I still have to wait for my passport. This meaning I haven’t been able to leave the UK for 2 months just because they can’t find my passport which IS IN THEIR OFFICE.

Psss … how big must that office be. (WTF)

Anyway just wanted to share this great example of South-African efficiency with friends and family.

!!! Foo Fighters !!! (te danke aan Brielie)

Well last weekend was foo figters here in london. That's THE FOO FIGHTER ... and we were there . (Along with the other 86000 people. )

Now most of the readers hear understand afrikaans and I recomment that if you have a 1/2 hour to spare go check out this documentary of our day out in Hyde park by brielie

Sun + Music + Beer + more beer + girls in bikini's + more beer = Very happy Rolf

Dirk,Pieter,Me and Natalia
Not sure what I was doing there ... cant even blame the beer

I liked a few songs from angels and airwaves. I can’t say that they are my favorite bands but they were quite good. Motor head was not really for me and the sound with Queues of the Stone Age was Merde (that means shit in French).

But then at last after turning my very white pommie skin into a lovely shade of red and drinking as much Carling as my little liver could take foo figters came on . A(f*ucking)mazing… it was definitely the best show that I have ever seen. The whole day some people were sitting some were drinking and some were just plain passed out(See picture below for example)but as as-soon as Foo Figters came on everyone was standing and singing along. The atmosphere made my balls tingle.

(just wanted to add this... this is Niel sleeping/passed out... what can I say don’t give me allot of beer and leave a pen laying around … sorry buddy )

Anglesey Island-Wales

Again it has been a while (but better late than never) I have some photos that I would like to share of our weekend away.

A month or so ago we went to Anglesey Island in Wales with Backabush. I was a great weekend with just Coenraad, Annalet and me. Carole the dam was to Lazy/stubborn/French to come with.

Some of the beautiful landscapes in the area where we stayedl

Me and Annalet next to one of the coves

Coenraad and Annalet always hugging/giggling and turning me into the 3rd wheel

Yes it is F*&*&^ high and luckily Coenraad was not zooming in because I think I was actually pissing my self .. just a bit

Again one of the many beautiful coves

If you would like to see move pictures check out Coenraads photo collection

I love snowboarding

Last year Coenraad and I went to Austria to go try out some snowboarding but this year we went to Austria to CHECK OUT the PIST for some FRESH POWDER if you know what I mean :-)

Ahh yes… nothing like falling down in fresh snow … and then there is nothing worse when you fall down and realize that the soft snow has melted and frozen again and turned into a (F*CKOFF) hard ICE layer.

Anyway, this time we decided to take with some friends because last year was so cool. They were Jaco, Niel, Storm, Coenraad, Annalet, Pieter, Natalia and Carole. Unfortianly we were split up into two groups. Advanced and Losers. For more details on what happened to the losers you can read Jaco’s blog. [ENG.].

In the Advanced group it was Carole, Storm and me. Unfortunately the Coenraad has gone to the GAY side and has decided to try his ski’ing or what ever they call that gay sport. Event though it was storms first time on a snowboard and I was expecting him to drag our Advanced group behind. I feeling a bit in trouble when he started his first run with no problems… I was expecting to show him a thing or two… but it was difficult because I was always trying to catch up. Luckily his stopping skills involved plowing into the ICE or snow depending on which was closet. It was a good thing for me because it gave me a chance to catch up.

Unforgivably on the 4th day Storm tried one of his famous “280 on the y-axis, hand brake turn”. Now for someone as skilled as Storm I was sure that he would be able to do this turn with ease. (I have seen him do the maneuver at least 100 times before). Unfortunately because of bad wind conditions and the fact that he was hung-over and he ended up missing his turn and doing a “320 vertical break your collar bone turn”. Anyway.. On the last two days we finally had some the pleasure of our friends joining us for some(I mean one) run. In the morning we would start with 7 people and 1 run later we would have 5 and then 1 more run later it was only Niel Carole and Me left. Niel actually started getting quite good after the 5th day.

Anyway I had an amazing time and I am definitely doing it again next year. So Kano start saving NOW so that you can join us next year !!!.

Back in SA

Hi … I know that it has been so long since I have blogged and I’m sorry for being so lazy Since I’ve been back from SA I have been so lazy I event hate emptying out the trash in the recycle bin on my computer.. So what I’m going to do is try to catch up by giving a summary of what has happened Since I last blogged … (and there is a lot so I might spread them across a few bogs so that you don’t get bored and I don’t lose my LAZY title)

I was back in SA for 4 week in December to because I applied for a 5 year work permit for the UK since my 2 year working holiday expired. During that time I was visiting my parents and seeing some friends. Unfortunately I had to work for my company thought the internet (well if you can call it INTERNET …. But that is another story) sorry if I did not manage to see all my friends.

Here are my best friends back in SA Kano, Piet and Monica. The good times..

Johan AKA Kano

Piet

Monika

I also had the “Pleasure” of having Christmas with my brother and his girlfriend. But at least it was good to see the parents and the food was amazing like always. Oh... a nd YES that is the dog and yes it does have it's own chair .. and what is going to pis you off the MOST IS THAT that dog eats alot better what you and me everyday of it's life !!!

Christmas with the Family

For new year I went to visit Debbie and Francois AKA Sweis .

And finally Debbie’s brother (J AKA Justin) is also allowed to drink with us (Legally!!!)

J and Debbie

Next day we just relaxed drinking some 3 day old punch in a Park there some where in east Pretoria called M’kwe..(or something like that). This place was cool there was a small dam where you could swim in and it has a “3 story rock drop” where you can jump off. If I wasn’t for the fact that there was a little 10 year old kid that jumped off just when I got on-top of the MOUNTAIN I would probably have tried to climb back down. Lets just say that I was glad that the water was already dark brown. But that is not the disgusting part the disgusting part is when you get 4 liters of water injected into you nose and it is not like you can keep your nose closed. Because you need both hands protecting the crown jewels from high impact injury.

Anyway in the end It was ok holiday because I got to see some old friends (Willem, Edi, Kano, Piet, Bok, Lou, Alethea, Debbie and Sweis and all the rest …)

Me Drunk on new years

Anyway enough for one night… oh and anyone that was thinking of going to watch broke back mountain … DON’T !!!

Two cowboys came upon an Indian lying on his stomach with his ear to the ground.
One of the cowboys stops and says to the other, "You see that Indian?"
"Yeah," says the other cowboy.
"Look," says the first one, "He's listening to the ground. He can hear things for miles in any direction."
Just then the Indian looks up. "Covered wagon," he says, "About two miles away. Have two horses, one brown, one white. Man, woman, child, furniture in wagon ..."
"Incredible!" says the cowboy to his friend. "This Indian knows how far away they are, how many horses, what color, what's in the wagon -- just amazing!"
The Indian looks up and says, "Ugh ... not amazing ... wagon ran ... over me ... 30 minutes ago!"

Tonight on the Ricki lake show (net vir jou willem)

So as some of you know my friend Willem has been going though a rough time with his X-Girl friend. So I though I might share my story with him and anyone that likes the Ricki lake show

So as some of you know I had a girlfriend just before I came to London. Ou Zelda daar van boksburg. Anyway I only started going out with Zelda after I decided to come to London so I decided that it would be better to come to London rather than change my plans for beautiful girl after only going out 4 months.

Anyway so I’m in London and she is in Pretoria busy studying. For the first few months we continued sending emails and talking. Truthfully I really liked/loved this girl, she was really cool and I guess I only realized how much I liked her once I was in London. So anyway these emails when on for about 3 months and then they started getting few and far in-between.

So here comes the kicker. In her last email she tells me that she has found a flat and was moving into the flat with her friend. 2 or 3 weeks later my brother tells me that Zelda moved into the flat 2 houses next to his flat….(I don’t know about you but this seems like some important information that she neglected to inform me in her last email). Anyway back to my lovely brother… now anyone that knows me knows that me and my brother have never got along. I really can’t imagine how we could come from the same parents. So you might ask yourself how my brother got to know Zelda in the first place… well here comes another kicker. Zelda and Wynand met because I thought that it was time that I put effort into making my relationship with my brother BETER so I invited myself(and Zelda) to his place a few times for a braai (BBQ)… Guess it almost.

Anyway so after another 2 weeks in London not really sure what the F*** was going on at home (well I knew something was fishy because of the flat story) my brother sends me a msn message saying that he is French kissing my girlfriend. And my reply to that was “I KNOW” … that is all I said... can you believe it … im such a pansy …

Anyway my brother and this girl are still together.. I actually had the nightmare of visiting them (by this stage they were living together in the same flat) when I was back in SA this year … it was really not comfortable at all (plus during this visit my brother tried to inform me that the motorbikes that my grand father gave me no longer belongs to me … but this is a whole other story).

Anyway as you can imagine my brother and I don’t really talk anymore. Last I heard they are still together and he had bought a house and they still stay together.

So gabba dagga if you think that you are having a tough time just remember that “IT COULD BE WORSE”. I hope that my story cheered you up.

Anyway I’m over Zelda and my brother now. I guess I’m glad that my brother finally found someone. I’m just waiting for the call (well it will probably be a one line msn knowing my bother) saying that I’m going to be an Uncle.
But we will see how it goes because I have to see them this Christmas when I’m back in SA (wish me luck)

Prague

Hallo Gabbas.. (veral Jaco en ou Dagga) ek weet dis nou al ’n rukkie wat ek bietjie iets nuuts op my blog sit. So hier gaan dit dan nou weer.

So this weekend was the first time in a month or two that I had the chance to get out of London for a while and go see a new country. That’s right we (Jaco, Annalet, Pieter, Andrew and Carole and me of coarse) went to Prague have a snow ball fight. The truth is that there was not enough snow yet but I did manage to scrape together a few hands full of ICE and sling it at unsuspecting people (and yes it was as much fun as it looks like in the movies).

So anyway I won’t bore you with all the details of all the thing we went to see there, we can skip right to our fist night out. After a long day of walking in sub zero temperatures and eating and drinking all day we as a group decided to go out and see if we could find a jazz club. This sounded like a good idea but turned out to be a real mission. First Andrew harassed a rather good looking waiter (who likes Tatu the band allot) in one of the restaurants trying to get her to tell us where the closed Jazz club was. Up until that point everything was cool then it started going “pear shaped”. The problem was too many chiefs and drunken Indians. The more Andrew wanted to go to a Jazz club and trying to follow some obscure directions the more Carole wanted to find the closed club. This went on for at least and hour, we were walking up and down Prague. The Indians kept on agreeing with both sides because lets face it they don’t know what the hell is going on all they knew what that is was freezing and there alcohol levels were getting awfully close to sober which was unacceptable.

Anyway long story short Carole won and we ended up in a club called La Fabriqueit turned out to be a really cool club with some good looking waitresses and a few dancers that knew what men like to see (the next morning Jaco mentioned that the girls dancing did not shave there pits but truthfully I was not looking at that at all ). Anyway after all that effort Carole and Jaco decided to call it a night after the second beer (so the 2 girls went home) but then when we did get home we found Jaco and Carole drinking in the hotel restaurant drinking and singing “Just the two of us” … it was sad I know

Anyway the weekend turned out really cool we did a lot of walking and Jaco and Andrew did a lot of talking. We also managed to see all the main attractions and we lived like kings because the currency in Prague is really quite bad. (40 Czech koruna for 1 pound). The food there was amazing and the beer was really cheap our accommodation was unbelievably good (thanks to Carole for organizing it), what more could one ask for.

Anyway that is the end of my story…

My raw meat and mint cocktail weekend

My weekend was quite good. I actually managed to get out of my room for more that 3 hours. Friday I went out for dinner and some beers with some of my friends (Coenraad, Annalet and Carole). We actually got together to make some plans to go to Prague for a weekend in November ’05. Dinner was in an Italian restaurant in brick lane called furnace. The food was interesting, Annalet and I ordered “Carpaccio e Funghi” which I forgot translated into RAW fillet meat sliced into fine slices with mushrooms, salad and cheese. I actually had it before in Rome and it was really not too bad. But poor Annalet was not impressed :- After dinner we went out for a drink or two in some club down the road. It was it turned out to be a really good evening

Saturday Dirk, Storm and I joined house 47 (a bunch of girls that stay up the road from us in number 47 Dunbar Road) for some drinks in central London. Of coarse Jaco(die klein meisie) dropped us at the last second and spent a romantic evening with his new computer. The evening got off to a rocky start when we kept on having to wait for the girls to get ready. We finally got everyone out of the house and went for some dinner in Phil’s pub and then we went out to a “pub/club” where one of the girls from house 47 works.

This turned out to be a very alcoholic evening because most of the drinks were for free. At some stage I was drinking some cocktail that looked and tasted like someone stuck a big bush of Peppermint Plant and any other random green vegetation into a blender and then added some vodka(from that point on everything got a little bit blurry). Anyway everyone got very drunk and had a really good time. There was a bit of “alcohol induced toying with emotions” going on but the phenomenon soon faded when we started our hour and a half journey back home at 3 in the morning.

No doubt exists that all women are crazy. It's just a question of degree.

Sunday was basically spent recovering and watching movies and reading some rude comments on my blog. "St Willem" as he likes to call himself has been posting shit about my blog so I think it is some time for “smack talk” (as Jaco would say). Comments like "ja, rolf se site suig..." (Rolfs’ site sucks) and "ek het amper f##### (dis nou f*kk*l) verstaan wat jy daar geskryf het" (I can’t read you English) is a bit uncalled for.

Anyway old Willem aka “Dagga” (means weed… wonder where that name comes from) is now staying in Pretoria and has been making a career out of studying. I’m not even sure how many courses he started in the last 6 year but I think it is around 3 and his last one (I think) is something like dentistry (Scary knowing that his nick name is WEED).

Old dagga is a big blue bulls fan and his team lost this Saturday against the cheetahs. Oh well maybe next year.

If you understand Afrikaans go check out his blog (http://diebetterbrielie.blogspot.com/) dedicated to stories that are better that brielies blog. HIS BLOG IS QUITE FUNNY.

Me and Carole
We had to photoshop some girls into the pictures for jaco :-)
Dirk and Niel... enought said

Ahhhh my first real post. I know that Jaco (http://brielie.blogspot.com/) is probably going to moan like a little girl about the fact that this blog is in English but what is new.

So I’m sure all of you have suddenly remembered that last week was my birthday … oooopsss. Don’t worry it was a shit day anyway. I had to go into work, which meant I left London at 6:30 the morning and only got back at like 9:30 at night. At least we (me, storm and dirk because Jaco had to do his nails) went out for a beer or 2 so it was not all bad

The rest of the week was spent working and playing XBOX, well actually most of the time was spent getting the XBOX to work (dankie jaco). Friday was looking like it was going to be another boring Friday eating from Johns fish bar and drinking at home. When rolf came up with a brilliant idea to go to nandos. Now I can’t say that I remember the size of a “jumbo platter” back in SA but f**** me the size here in the ghetto … ggghhmm I mean wood green is amazing. I think there was food for 5 to 6 people between Jaco, Dirk,(and brielie) and myself . It was a good thing we had 3 hours before the movie started. So Friday turned out to be a really successful night.

Aahhh only one more paragraph.. I know it is boring but wait until you read brielies blog it just goes on and on. It should actually be called brielies has issues. Anyway back to the weekend. So Saturday was my day of relaxation, spent the whole day sleeping and playing fable. It was amazing. Then on Sunday we had a braai (BBQ) , we had to have the braai on Sunday because Connie(new guy in the house who’s birthday is same day as mine) was working on Saturday. It turned out really good we stared early there was a lot alcohol being consumed. Jaco and Dirk finally got to speak to some girls so there are suddenly a lot less gay jokes going around the house. And as good as Sunday was Monday was #@”%” terrible but that is another story

I thought this was quite good on brielies blog so I’m borrowing it

Movie for the week: Serenity
Song for the week: Dave Matthews Band – Crush
Application of the week:Subverion

Anyway Ill will be right back as soon as I find out what this button- ::KABOOM::
